Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has confirmed that defender John Terry will be out for at least 10 days after suffering an ankle injury against Swansea City.
The captain will not be in the squad to face Liverpool tomorrow and will be replaced by David Luiz in the heart of the Chelsea defence.
The Brazilian will be making his debut after rejoining the club from Paris Saint-Germain.
"A strong match, very tough against a strong team," Conte told reporters on Thursday.
"I think Liverpool are a really good team. They play with high intensity, they bring many players in offensive situations, they are very good.
"We must pay great attention tomorrow because we know they are very strong.
"John [Terry] strained the ligament of his ankle, the doctor told me after 10 days he could be available to come back. He is working very hard and today he had a training session to recover.
"Tomorrow, David Luiz will play for the first time with us and we are confident about him.
"We expect him to play very well, we know he's a good player. We are working to put him in the best condition to give us the best of him.
"When new players arrive they need time to adapt to a new concept but tomorrow we need to play David Luiz. He's worked a lot on defensive situations and when we are in possession. I have confidence in him."
