Chelsea attacking midfielder Eden Hazard says he wanted to take responsibility from the spot on Monday to cancel out all mistakes from the spot he made last season.
The Belgian kept his cool to give his side the lead early in the second half as the Blues went on to register an important 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a very positive Euro 2016 campaign and is determined to bring more of the same at Chelsea.
"It's good to be back on the pitch and to win in front of our supporters," Hazard told Chelsea's official website.
"The first game of the season is always important and we played very well, we played 90 minutes like tigers.
"It's not every year I score in my first game. I missed a couple of penalties last year, Oscar asked if he could shoot but I said it was my turn and it's always good to score a penalty.
"Last season is finished and now we are looking forward to the future. We want to bring the fans a lot of emotion but it's always good to start like this."
