Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink was visibly delighted after his side eased past Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues raced to a 5-1 win against the Magpies, the perfect way to prepare Tuesday's Champions League game away at Paris Saint-Germain.
Captain John Terry is a concern for the game and will be assessed in the coming days.
"We can be pleased with the performance of the guys," Hiddink told BBC Sport.
"We tried to surprise them in the beginning. Happily it worked out.
"It's important for the way we played, not just in attack. The players also have to do defensive work and that is where we are aiming and then the quality comes out.
"[John Terry's injury?] We have just two days to recover [before playing PSG in the Champions League] and it is something to think about in the future because two days of recovery is not enough."
