Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli says enjoying regular first-team football is the reason why he turned down an offer to join Premier League champions Chelsea.
The 23-year-old attracted interest from the Blues before they opted to sign Asmir Begovic from Stoke City.
He confirmed the interest but explained that he preferred to play in the Championship rather than sitting on the bench at Stamford Bridge.
"There was always that speculation with Chelsea, but I did not want to be sat on the bench," Bettinelli told GetWestLondon.
"It would have been silly to stop playing now and go and be a number three.
"It was lovely to be linked with Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, but this was always the place for me."
