Ex Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu says he joined Southampton to work with manager Ronald Koeman.
He spent the past two seasons on loan at Stuttgart and Valencia.
The Saints paid £5m to secure the services of the Spaniard, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2011 from Barcelona.
"I think it's good to have a coach who wants to play football and do the right things," Romeu told Southampton's official YouTube channel.
"When I spoke with him, he more or less told me exactly what I was looking for and the style of play I've been looking for.
"The style from the Barcelona academy is one I feel very comfortable with. I think it's the best one to reach the team goals in the long term.
"That's what I was looking for when I came here - a coach like him who can teach me a lot. He knows life as a player, and it will be very good for me to work under Ronald Koeman."
