Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis says he couldn't turn down the opportunity to make a return to his former club.
The 29-year-old spent just one season with the Blues before rejoining the Spanish giants.
He signed for Chelsea for £15.8m last summer but struggled to make an impact in Jose Mourinho's squad.
"I would like to announce that I have signed a contract with Atletico de Madrid," he wrote on his official website.
"I really want to thank Chelsea Football Club for an amazing year playing and living as one of the Blues.
"Thank you to all the fantastic supporters, to my teammates and to the coach and his team. At the same, I would like to thank Atletico de Madrid, who put in a lot of effort to bring me back to the club.
"Finally, thanks to the Atletico supporters who have shown me their love during the last year and especially these last few days.
"Now I'm just thinking about joining the team and training as hard as I can to help Atletico de Madrid continue making history.
"At the end of season, when the chance to return came up, I told my agent that I did not want any other option.
"It was either return to Atleti or stay at Chelsea. I am very happy after one year.
"It was a great experience, but it has emerged for me the chance to go home. I want my kids to see me play at Atletico."
