Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma admits he was surprised to be played in midfield by Jose Mourinho in their League Cup win at Wembley.
With Nemanja Matic suspended and John Obi Mikel out injured, the Portuguese opted to deploy the Frenchman in central midfield.
And the youngster was surprised but excited to feature in a new role.
"I'm very happy because we won the trophy and that was the target before the game," Zouma told the club's official website.
"It was difficult but the most important thing was that everybody gave everything.
"The manager told me I was going to be playing in midfield two days before the game.
"I was surprised when he told me but after that I was excited. I have never played in midfield before. It was good for me because I had to work more than I do when I play as a central defender. My legs are tired now!
"But I'm proud to have helped the team win a title at Wembley so I'm very, very, very, very happy!"
Manager Jose Mourinho told reporters that the 20-year-old could be the next Marcel Desailly for Chelsea but the youngster says it's too early to draw comparisons.
"I'm not like Marcel Desailly, no," he said.
"I'm very proud to hear that but I have to keep working because I'm too young to say that.
"Marcel Desailly is a legend and me? I've only played about 10 games so I have to keep improving every day."
