Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho reveals midfielder Mikel will not feature against Everton on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old was a second-half substitute in Chelsea's 2-1 away win against Aston Villa but will not be in the squad to face Roberto Martinez's side.
The Blues however welcome Cesc Fabregas back in the squad after he missed Chelsea's last two games because of a hamstring problem.
"We have only Mikel injured, with a little problem in his knee," Mourinho said on Tuesday.
"He's the only one who's not in conditions to play.
"After that we have a couple of little things that we have to control until tomorrow but normally [they are] not a problem.
"Yes, he [Cesc Fabregas] will be [in the squad].
"I want to have every player but the team played without him and we coped with the situation. Obviously to have him back is important for us."
And it seems controversy over Diego Costa's suspension is not yet over for the Portuguese as he referred to the Spaniard as the "suspended player" during his press conference.
Tomorrow's game will be the last the 26-year-old will miss after he was banned for three matches for stamping on Liverpool's Emre Can.
"We don't have the player that is suspended," Mourinho said.
"We have to stick with Didier and Loic Remy. Again, we need the suspended player but we coped without him and we got results without him.
"With him it could have been even better, but I trust my people; we always decide not to speak about players that cannot play. We try to forget it and give confidence to the other people."
