Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho described the first few months of the season as "perfect".
The Blues enjoyed positive results in all competitions in this campaign and the manager says the mental approach of his players will not change if they suffer their first defeat of the season.
"What do you want the team to do or feel when the team is doing a perfect season?" Mourinho said during Tuesday's press conference.
"Top of the league in the Premier League, top of the group in the Champions League, quarter-finals in the Capital One Cup, not losing a match in four months. The team has to feel very, very well.
"When the defeat arrives, we have to feel the same way. We are doing things very, very well and it's not a bad result, when a bad result arrives, that is going to change our self-belief and self-esteem."
Asked how he intends to cope with the suspension of striker Diego Costa, the Portuguese said: "We don't speak about Diego.
"We trust Remy and Drogba the same way we trust Diego. This is not our way of working. So forget Diego. We trust the other two and we go with the other two."
Meanwhile, Mourinho revealed that captain John Terry could be offered a new contract to extend his stay at the club.
"It's not time to speak about it but he knows what I think and what I feel," Mourinho said.
"The board also knows what I think, but we don't feel the need to share with you."
