New Chelsea striker Loic Remy knows that he has to work very hard if he is to become a regular for the Blues.
Heavily linked with a possible move to Arsenal during the summer transfer window, the 27-year-old was convinced by manager Jose Mourinho as he joins the Blues to replace Fernando Torres.
"I spoke with him [Mourinho]," Remy told the club's official website.
"He is very clever and he knows exactly what he wants. He has targets for me and I know I have a target for myself as well.
"Everybody wants the best so the discussion was really good. I know he can get the best out of a player and I'm looking forward to working with him."
Securing a regular place will not be easy with Diego Costa and Didier Drogba both in front of him in Mourinho's pecking order but the France international is determined to prove a point.
"We have two great strikers here already [Diego Costa and Didier Drogba]," added Remy.
"I don't have a choice if I want to be in the team - I have to play at a very high level.
