"Arsenal are eyeing him" - Unai Emery ready to make a move to sign experienced defender

By

Arsenal are showing interest for Juventus defender Mehdi Benatia as they continue to revamp their defensive department.

Le10 Sport has claimed that new boss Unai Emery wants to add experience in defence and has identified the former Bayern Munich man as one who could fit the bill.

The 31-year-old was one of the strongest defenders in Italy before moving to the Germany.

He struggled to make an impact with Der FCB and was back in Italy after joining Juventus on loan, making his move permanent last summer.

He will lead Morocco during this summer's World Cup Finals and will then meet with the Bianconeri to understand where he will play his football next season.

At the moment, there is nothing concrete about a move to Arsenal, especially since the Gunners will not feature in next season's Champions League, a competition the 31-year-old wants to be involved in.
