Milan coach Filippo Inzaghi says he is finally deploying again his preferred 4-3-3 formation.
The Rossoneri had to work hard to battle past a stubborn Cagliari side and they were lucky when referee Paolo Tagliavento pointed to the spot in the 78th minute of the game after Alessio Cerci was brought down on the edge of the penalty area.
The 3-1 win means Milan go up to seventh in the table with Inzaghi expecting more of the same from his side after the international break.
"I am a little bit more relaxed [after the win], but I always am, I was just worried about the lads," Inzaghi said.
"I saw how they were training with intensity every day and I expected tonight's game to be tougher after the result against Fiorentina.
"But this is the same Milan of last December and this is very important.
"In the last two months we struggled because of injuries but we could have done better. But when all players are available, then the game and substitutions can be managed in a better way.
"I am happy for [Marco] van Ginkel who is finally playing with consistency. The 4-3-3 is a formation we have adapted well to, we were forced to drop it because of injuries but results improved as soon as we deployed it again.
"The Palermo game [on April 4] is a must win game, I don't know who will be back; De Sciglio will probably play a half and maybe Zapata and Montolivo as well.
"We will probably also have Rami back."
