Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic was full of praise for his players after they registered a much-needed win against Sassuolo.
It was the first win of the month for the Rossoneri after defeat against Napoli and last week's 1-1 draw away at Torino.
They will next host Chievo on Wednesday.
"We went for the win today, just like we have done on other occasions this season," Mihajlovic said after the win.
"We had the benefit however of playing with an extra man. It's also true that with every shot we give away lately, we concede.
"The credit for the win goes to the players who never gave up and were able to come away with the victory at the end. We won today with heart and character.
"Today my players showed that. I am very happy about this. I know Cerci well, and as I always say, the fans can protest but in a civil manner.
"I want to thank them however because they supported us during the match. They have the right to whistle afterwards, but it's only right they support us throughout the match. This is how it should be.
"Diego Lopez is a great goalkeeper and I rate him highly. He didn't seem to be doing well in these past few weeks and I decided to make a change. It's not a rejection on my part.
"Donnarumma did well, and it can happen that a goalkeeper suffers with a dip in form, therefore both Diego Lopez and Donnarumma can play. We have three reliable shot-stoppers and we can rotate them."
