Coach Filippo Inzaghi insists Milan can still make the top three but admits they have to win more games in the second part of the season.
The Rossoneri started the new year with a number of disappointing results but will be lifted by the mid-week win against Sassuolo in the Italian Cup.
"Every game is important," Inzaghi said during today's press conference.
"We played a good game in the Italian Cup [in mid-week] and [tomorrow] we play at the San Siro where it is important to win to improve our position in the table.
"We're improving even if we lost [Cristian] Zapata and [Mattia] De Sciglio for two months.
"[Atalanta] is very well organized and they will surely try to hurt us on the counter. But I'm happy with what I saw in training [before the game].
"So we have to win tomorrow, in the second part of the season we have to get more points."
Milan signed 21-year-old Suso from Liverpool on a permanent deal and Inzaghi says a full back could be next.
"I will speak with the club [regarding new players]," Inzaghi explained.
"In central defence we are covered but we have a problem on the wings where we only have three players available now that De Sciglio is ruled out.
"If we get a good chance [to sign someone] we will try to take it.
"[Suso] will give us an important hand, he's quality and can also play behind the strikers."
