Internazionale coach Roberto Mancini insists the objective this season is to win the Italian Scudetto.
The Nerazzurri open their Serie A campaign with a home game against Atalanta on Sunday night.
They are still in the market for a striker but the Italian says the focus is on tomorrow's game and the next one, next week, against Carpi.
"At the start of the season everyone sets out with the aim of finishing top," Mancini told reporters.
"We're aware of the quality we have here and it's all down to us. Inter should always aim for the very top. We all start off on the same level and we shape our own destiny.
"We have a competitive squad and we must make sure we stay up there in the mix with the leading pack. The foundations we laid last year will serve us well this season – it's what we'll build our future success on.
"I'm fairly confident about what the team can achieve this season.
"The management are working on a few things [before the end of the transfer window] but our focus has to be entirely on Atalanta for now and then Carpi.
"The transfer window still being open is a bit of a distraction because as a coach you'd always like to have your final squad to work with from the first day of pre-season. But we'll leave the transfer talk to the papers."
