Internazionale coach Roberto Mancini again says time is needed for his team to reach the level he expects.
The Nerazzurri recovered from back-to-back disappointing results with a 3-0 home win against Palermo but the Italian says there is still room for improvement in his side.
"We don't have a magic wand [to turn things around]," Mancini said.
"With the exception of the game against Empoli, we always tried to impose our game, making mistakes that we will slowly eliminate from our game.
"The mental aspect of the game is important for a team wanting to become great."
The Italian said his players were like a "bunch of chickens" for the way they conceded in the Italian Cup against Napoli and he says he saw more of the same against Palermo.
"You could say that we were a bunch of chickens today as well in the way Dodo allowed Palermo to restore parity.
"This team cannot afford to make such errors, at Napoli we were caught napping but we were on par with them.
"Today we gave the ball away, something we have to work on, we simply cannot afford these mistakes. The rest of the game was very good."
But the 50-year-old also wanted to make it clear that he means no offense by using the word "chickens".
"When I say chickens I mean it in a friendly way," he explained.
Striker Mauro Icardi opted not to celebrate the two goals after controversy following the Sassuolo defeat but Mancini disagrees with the 21-year-old.
"My opinion is that every goal should be celebrated," he said.
"I think he didn't [celebrate] because of what happened last Sunday but what is important is that he scored and that the fans appreciated his efforts."
