Internazionale midfielder Ricardo Alvarez will leave the Italian Serie A to join Sunderland in the English Premier League according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 26-year-old will join the Black Cats on a season-long deal for an estimated fee of £800,000 with the English side to pay an additional £8m to make the move a permanent one at the end of the season.
Before joining Internazionale, the Argentina international was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal with reports also suggesting that an agreement was reached with the Gunners.
Earlier this week, Sunderland manager Gus Poyet confirmed that new signings were on the horizon.
"We're moving, we're moving very fast because it’s getting close,” the Uruguayan told the Sunderland Echo.
"I'm confident we’ll be doing something. You’re going to be surprised."
