Manchester United have reportedly opened negotiations to sign Atletico Madrid defender Sime Vrsaljko, Metro has reported.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho is eager to strengthen his defensive department even his side was the second best defence in the English Premier League this season.
Vrsaljko would take over from Matteo Darmian who is expected to return to Italy to join champions Juventus.
The 26-year-old was harshly sent off against Arsenal when Atletico Madrid faced the Gunners at the Emirates at the end of April.
But he was back in Diego Pablo Simeone's squad as Los Colchonero eased past Olympique de Marseille to win the Europa League in Lyon.
