Arsenal have reached an agreement on a £16million deal to make Sokratis Papastathopoulos their second summer signing, the Telegraph has confirmed.
He follows Stephan Lichtsteiner who joined from Juventus as a free agent.
It is clear new boss Unai Emery has identified the defensive department as the area he wants to strengthen this summer.
The Gunners are also in talks to sign Caglar Soyuncu from Freiburg.
Just like Lichtsteiner, Sokratis will bring a lot of experience to the Arsenal squad having enjoyed spells with Milan, Werder Bremen, Borussia Dortmund and the Greece national team.
He is expected to be announced as an Arsenal player in the next 72 hours.
