Arsene Wenger: £65k-per-week attacking midfielder will play for Arsenal this season

By

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will not leave Arsenal this month, manager Arsene Wenger has said.

The Frenchman is determined to keep a number of key players at the Emirates this season.

The Englishman and Alexis Sanchez both have important offers from other clubs but the 67-year-old will fight to keep both of them at the Emirates.

"Yes, [he will be here this season]," Wenger declared.

"[Why?] Personally, because I rate him highly and he's one of the players who is on his way up.

"In the last year, he has made huge progress and I want him to stay here for a long time. I'm convinced he will be the English player that everybody will look at in the next two years.

"I have regular conversations with the players where I tell them where I stand and they know what I want and where I stand on that front."
