Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has officially confirmed that striker Olivier Giroud will not be sold.
Recent reports have claimed that the 30-year-old will leave the club to enjoy regular first-team football elsewhere.
But Wenger says the striker is eager to compete with new arrival Alexandre Lacazette who joined this month from Lyon.
"Giroud fancies the competition," Wenger said.
"As a manager, you have him on your back, wanting to play.
"He fights hard, you know.
"I like the way he responds to what's happening. He is focused and determined and showed that on the [pre-season] tour."
