Crystal Palace have made a bid of around £16 million for Arsenal defender Calum Chambers, the Telegraph has revealed.
The Englishman enjoyed a very positive campaign at Middlesbrough last season but securing a regular place at Arsenal will be very difficult.
He helped England reach the semi-finals of the European Under-21 Championship last month and many believe that he will become a very strong defender in the future.
The 22-year-old made very little progress under manager Arsene Wenger and is now searching for a permanent move away from the Emirates.
The Gunners have rejected the bid but the Eagles are expected to make an improved offer in the coming days.
