Manager Arsene Wenger will make an attempt to sign Karim Benzema if Arsenal lose Alexis Sanchez this summer.
Reports in England have claimed this morning that the Frenchman has identified the 29-year-old as the one to take over from the Chilean.
The future of Sanchez remains unclear.
The player has told reporters in Chile that he wants to play in the Champions League next season.
But Wenger insists that the player is not for sale.
"I don't give too much importance to things that are translated, you know," the Arsenal boss told reporters.
"The whole interview that I got didn't really mean that.
"The main focus for us is to concentrate on the Premier League and the Premier League for me today is more important than the Champions League.
"For the rest, we played 20 years in the Champions League, that's 17 years before Sanchez arrived and three years with him so he can get us back in there."
