Napoli sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is expecting a phone call from Arsenal to discuss the possibility of selling Nikola Maksimovic to the Gunners, Radio Kiss Kiss has claimed.
Arsene Wenger has already concluded a deal for Sead Kolasinac in his attempt to strengthen the defensive department ahead of next season.
Maksimovic has struggled for regular football since joining Napoli from Torino.
But manager Maurizio Sarri says he will be a key element of his squad next season.
"We believe in the player," Sarri said at the end of last season.
"I wanted to sign him and so did director [Cristiano Giuntoli]. This season our defence is stronger with [Raul] Albiol and [Kalidou] Koulibaly but I have faith in him and will be a key element in this squad.
"He's strong, quick with the feet, good with the ball in his feet, he's very like Albiol so for me he is a great player."
