German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen have officially confirmed that they have signed Arsenal attacking midfielder Serge Gnabry.
The youngster moves to Germany on a permanent deal.
Managing director Frank Baumann revealed that Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker played an important role during negotiations.
"We were interested in the player four years ago but unfortunately it didn’t work out back then," he said.
"[Per] Mertesacker told us a lot about Gnabry.
"He is a big fan of the player."
Speaking at a news conference, Gnabry said: "I've come to Bremen to get playing time, to develop further and to help the team.
"I'm confident we'll have a successful season and push for the top half of the table."
