Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he added striker Lucas Perez to his squad because he's a team player and times his runs superbly.
The 27-year-old was officially unveiled as an Arsenal player on Tuesday afternoon.
He joined from Deportivo La Coruna for a reported fee of £17.1million.
He was close to joining Everton before the Gunners made contact with his agent.
"He's not only a goalscorer, he's a guy who combines well with partners," Wenger told the club's official website.
"He can give a final ball and makes good runs. He's got a good eye for goal and had an outstanding season last year.
"I'm confident.
"He has pace, good technical levels, is a good finisher and he has the ingredients to be a success. It's always a little bit of a gamble to come from one country to another, with different challenges, but I believe it was a gamble worth taking.
"I'm excited about that."
Perez scored 17 goals in 37 games for Deportivo last season.
