Arsenal will be forced to delay the transfer of Mathieu Debuchy after the defender picked up a calf injury that will keep him out for months.
According to the Daily Star, the Frenchman was a target for Serie A giants Roma but he would have preferred to stay in the English Premier League, ideally in London.
He is desperate to the leave the Emirates after losing his regular place in the squad.
He lost his place to young Hector Bellerin who became one of the most important players in Arsene Wenger's defensive department.
Debuchy spent half of last season on loan at Girondins de Bordeaux but returned to Arsenal after the French club made it clear that they didn't want to make his transfer permanent.
The 31-year-old will now only be available on the market during the 2017 January transfer window.
