Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed that defender Calum Chambers will leave the club on loan.
The 21-year-old was described by the Frenchman as a player with "tremendous quality" and one who would have done well with Arsenal after joining from Southampton but he never managed to secure a regular place at the Emirates.
He started Arsenal's first game of the season against Liverpool in which the Gunners conceded four goals.
Wenger rejected claims that the Englishman's future will be affected by the arrival of Shkodran Mustafi but confirmed that there is no place for him in his squad this season.
"[His] future [being affected by a new signing]? No. The fact that he could go out somewhere and play? Yes," Wenger told reporters.
"With Joel Campbell going out, Calum Chambers maybe will go on loan somewhere. It will be alright."
