Arsenal have made an enquiry for Fenerbahce centre-back Simon Kjaer a source close to the club told Turkish-football.
Sky Sports has revealed on Monday that the Gunners are keeping an eye on Omer Toprak and Simon Kjaer in case they fail to sign Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi.
The Denmark international would add plenty of experience to the Arsenal defence having played in Italy, Germany, France and Turkey in his career.
Unfortunately for the Gunners, his club made it clear that he is not for sale and at the start of the summer he insisted that he has no desire to leave Fenerbahce.
"I have no desire to leave Fenerbahce this summer and I am definitely not looking actively for another club," he told Goal in May.
"I am happy in a huge club like Fenerbahce and I love the passion of our fans. I am also a very passionate person about my football and I see myself in their passion.
"And, of course, Istanbul is a wonderful place to live - with interesting culture, great nature and a fabulous climate, especially when you come from cold Denmark!
"These are things that my family and I enjoy immensely."
