Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is working hard to finalise the transfer of two new defenders before the start of the Premier League, reports in Italy have revealed.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, the Gunners have identified Shkodran Mustafi and Jonny Evans as two possible targets.
Arsenal have opened talks to understand if the two are for sale and are ready to offer £20million for the Germany international and £15million for the former Manchester United centre-back.
They will be without Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista against Liverpool this weekend with Calum Chambers and Rob Holding expected to start in the heart of the defence.
Nacho Monreal, Mathieu Debuchy and Krystian Bielik will fill the void in case of emergency.
