Arsenal have made contact to understand if Atletico Madrid are ready to sell star player Antoine Griezmann during the summer transfer window.
Transfer market expert Emanuele Giulianelli has revealed that the Gunners first made contact months ago and that the Colchoneros are not ready to let the player go for less than €100million.
The 25-year-old stole the headlines during the Euro 2016 Championship as he ended the tournament as top scorer.
Arsenal's only hope, according to the Italian journalist, is for Atletico Madrid to sign Diego Costa from Chelsea who take over from the Frenchman in their offensive department.
Giulianelli said: "The reason why Arsenal are delaying the move for Alexandre Lacazette, of Lyon, is that, as I've already written many times, they can take their time, as they wait on Atletico to sign Diego Costa. The Chelsea striker would join Atletico to partner Kevin Gameiro.
"At that moment, Wenger will try one last time for Griezmann.
"The last contact was when Wenger asked Atletico to be kept aware of Griezmann's availability.
"But at this moment Arsenal are not so confident of getting Griezmann, that's why they're going back for Lacazette this week."
