Defender Shkodran Mustafi will be announced as an Arsenal player next week, reports in Italy have claimed.
The Gunners have opened talks with Valencia to make the central defender their fourth signing of the summer.
If the transfer goes through, the 24-year-old will take over from fellow German Per Mertesacker who will be sidelined for months after suffering a knee injury.
Meanwhile, transfer expert Emanuele Giulianelli has revealed on Twitter that the two clubs are yet to reach an agreement as the Spanish giants want €5million more than what the Gunners offered.
According to recent reports, Arsenal want to secure the services of the player for half of his £50 million buy-out clause.
Valencia are expected to accept the offer as they need to recoup funds having failed to qualify for this season's Champions League.
