After Jamie Vardy, Arsenal miss out on yet another summer transfer target

By

Monaco have confirmed that they signed Arsenal target Djibril Sidibe from Lille.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the French giants hence putting an end to reports claiming that he was going to be Arsene Wenger's second signing at Arsenal.

The Gunners have made a late offer to secure the services of the defender but he opted to make a move to Monaco.

Sidibe is the second player to refuse a move to the Emirates after Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy decided to sign a new four-year contract with Premier League champions.

Arsenal are still chasing a defender and a striker to complete their squad ahead of next season.

Alexandre Lacazette, Romelu Lukaku and Alvaro Morata have all been linked with a possible move to North London but the only player signed to play regular football is Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka.
