Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere says he can play alongside Wayne Rooney for England against Wales on Thursday afternoon.
The Manchester United man was deployed in a midfield role for England's opening game against Russia and was one of the best players on the pitch.
And Wilshere believes the two can work together in that area of the pitch if manager Roy Hodgson decides to give him the nod against Chris Coleman's side.
"Can Wayne and I play together in this system? I think we can," Wilshere told the Daily Mail.
"I think there are two positions there. Dele Alli did well the other night as well, so let's not forget about him. But I don't see any reason why me and Wayne can't play together.
"Against Russia, he was probably our best player," Wilshere added. "Everything went through him. He's got that range of passing, he understands the game. I love watching him and I love playing with him as well."
