Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has again confirmed that Mohamed Elneny will soon become an Arsenal player.
The 23-year-old will be the club's first signing in the January transfer window.
And the Frenchman says more signings could be made by the Gunners this month.
"We hope to have things done this week [in respect to Mohamed Elneny's arrival]. I'm optimistic," Wenger is quoted as saying by the BBC.
"My prediction is that it could be one of the most active January transfer windows that we've seen.
"I would say for the media you could have some good news in the January transfer window.
"I believe many clubs will be active. You go from the clubs who are down in the table like Villa, who have to do something, to the clubs at the top."
Meanwhile, the Frenchman opted not to comment on the possibility of seeing midfielder Mesut Ozil winning the Ballon d'Or next year.
"What is important is we are a team sport, and it's not logical to me to just encourage individual effort," he said.
"We live already in a society where it's all about individualism. Coming from a team sport going to that as well is to me a little bit contradictory to what is the route of our sport."
