Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are on the same level.
The Portugal international told the BBC that he is a better player than his rival but the Frenchman disagrees.
"He is, with Messi, the best player in the world in the recent years," Wenger explained.
"He has shown that he can score 50 goals per season in the last six or seven years, so you have to say yes, he is with Messi. Messi maybe has a little advantage on assists but overall, the two have been fantastic players.
"[Choosing between the two?] I would go for nobody because it's not my problem at the moment. I have a much bigger problem - to prepare my team for Sunday. It's a debate that is always very difficult."
Wenger also says that personal awards in the game should be removed.
"First of all, I'm against that debate because I think we are first a team sport," he said.
"As a manager I always feel responsible to encourage the collective effort rather than singling people out. I think the modern world is too much about individuals and we as managers are more worried about the collective.
"I'm not too much of a fan. I'm against the Ballon d'Or, I'm against all these things. I've seen careers destroyed because the players are too much obsessed to get individual rewards."
