Former England international Stan Collymore says Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama would be an excellent signing for Arsenal.
The 24-year-old was left out of the Southampton squad to face Norwich City on Sunday with Tottenham Hotspur strongly linked.
But Collymore believes that the Kenyan would be more suited for Arsenal.
"If I were a top-four manager looking for that one last, quality signing of the transfer window then the player I would be trying to get my hands on is Southampton's Victor Wanyama," Collymore wrote on his Mirror column.
"Tottenham are the only club to have been linked with the Kenyan's signature but, to my mind, he is exactly the sort of player Arsenal need.
"It's a big ask for Francis Coquelin to step up over 38 Premier League games and Wanyama, who wants away, would complement him well.
"I'm a big fan from his Celtic days – he's big and strong, and can get forward too.
"He'd be great for any of the Big Four. No wonder boss Ronald Koeman doesn't want to lose him.
"But whether Wanyama goes in this window or the next, Koeman and Co need to change the policy that Southampton are a selling club.
"It just goes to show if you have one or two good seasons, you're going to get your best players poached."
