Abou Diaby on his time at Arsenal and his love for the fans

By

Olympique de Marseille midfielder Abou Diaby says he will never forget his time at Arsenal.

He joined the Gunners in January 2006 from Auxerre after reportedly turning down a move to rivals Chelsea.

Diaby spent almost a decade at North London but struggled to cope with the large numbers of injuries he suffered throughout his Arsenal career.

"In nine years, I had hard times, but also very beautiful moments," he told RMC.

"I had the chance to meet a coach like Arsene Wenger, who is a great coach and a great man too. I have this regret at not having been able to express all my qualities and my potential.

"I arrived young at heart I had to evolve in this club and almost finished my career there. My life has meant that this was not the case.

"Now a new chapter opens. I will do everything in order to return to a good level."

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old was full of praise for the Arsenal fans on Twitter.

"Thanks to Arsenal fans all over the world, for your best wishes and support through the years," he wrote.
