Sergi Samper’s father has reportedly contacted Arsenal and urged them to sign his son from Barcelona, Metro has revealed.
Reports claim that boss Arsene Wenger wants the 20-year-old to take over from Mikel Arteta in the Arsenal midfield.
Enjoying regular first-team football at Barcelona this season will not be easy for the talented midfielder but the Spanish giants would prefer to loan him out for a season or two rather than losing him on a permanent basis.
The player's agent will meet with Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez at the start of the week to discuss the future of his client.
The youngster has an £8.4m release clause that Arsenal are reportedly ready to meet.
