Arsenal will be title contenders if they add Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to their squad, Rio Ferdinand wrote on Instagram.
According to FOX Sports, the Gunners have seen a £31.3m bid for the player rejected as he remains high on Arsene Wenger's wishlist.
The Gunners have only added Petr Cech to their ranks so far but are expected to sign at least two more players before the end of the transfer window.
"I've played against him," Ferdinand said.
"I think he's a really, really good player.
"He knows how to score the goals in the box. He makes things happen. Top top player in my opinion.
"If Arsenal get him they have got a chance."
