Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on signing midfielder Yoann Gourcuff after he was released from Lyon, according to reports.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been an admirer of the Frenchman ever since he broke onto the scene as a teenager with Rennes.
The 29-year-old was expected to sign for Bordeaux but club owner Nicolas de Tavernost declared that a move for the player "is unlikely".
The midfielder is a free agent this summer having left Lyon at the end of his contract and would be an important midfield backup in the Arsenal squad.
