Defender Benedikt Howedes will stay at Schalke 04 next season after the German club rejected two offers from foreign clubs.
General manager Horst Heldt has confirmed that the club snubbed offers from two foreign sides in order to keep the 27-year-old at the Veltins-Arena.
Arsenal and Manchester United were both rumoured to be interested in signing the Germany international with newspaper reports claiming that the Red Devils were ready to make an official move.
"Benedikt Howedes will remain at Schalke," Heldt said.
"There were two offers from abroad. We are happy he decided to stay here."
