If Arsenal are to challenge the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United for next season's Premier League crown, then they need to sign Gonzalo Higuain, John Hartson said.
The situation with the Napoli striker is a very bizarre one after his miss from the penalty spot on Sunday allowed Lazio to qualify for next season's Champions League play-offs at the expense of the Partenopei.
According to reports in Italy, the 27-year-old was so devastated after the defeat that he told close friends that he wants to stay at the club next season to help them win the Italian Serie A.
But things changed after he was verbally and physically attacked together with goalkeeper Mariano Andujar by a group of 15 thugs.
The Argentina international is understood to have not filed a complaint but might ask to be sold after he makes his return from the Copa America.
"Arsenal must aim high and sign Gonzalo Higuain for next season," Hartson wrote on Kicca.
"Arsene must break the bank and spend big if they are to go on and compete for the Premier League title after their excellent FA Cup win.
"He's the kind of big name player Arsenal's main rivals – including Chelsea and Manchester United – will be looking to sign."
