Arsenal are expected to fail in their bid to sign Borussia Dortmund's Ilkay Gundogan.
Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft wrote on his Twitter account that Bayern Munich made an offer for the 24-year-old that was accepted by Borussia.
The midfielder was also a target for Manchester United but opted to stay in the German Bundesliga.
"I'll leave it open as to whether they continue without me. BVB are a great team and a really good coach is coming," Gundogan is quoted as saying by Goal.com.
"I don't know how the team will look next season. The challenge will be to get the great potential of this team back on the pitch. We managed to do that too little during the last year."
One midfielder the Gunners are expected to sign is Swansea City's Ki Sung-Yeung.
Swansea sources told the Evening Post that no contact was made with Arsenal but boss Arsene Wenger has shortlisted the 26-year-old as a possible target during the summer transfer window.
