Arsenal suffer blow in race for talented Japanese midfielder

By

Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda will stay at the club despite a number of offers including Schalke 04 and Arsenal.

After a brilliant start to the season in which he scored six goals in seven games, the 28-year-old struggled to make an impact in Filippo Inzaghi's squad after featuring in the Asian Cup for his country.

But according to Calciomercato.com, the Japan international is determined to fight for a regular place at Milan next season and is ready to turn down offers from the former German champions and Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.

Two seasons ago, the 28-year-old was linked with a possible move to the English Premier League with Everton and Arsenal both interested but he opted to join the Rossoneri instead.
