Arsenal to turn down £8m offer for Joel Campbell

By

Benfica are ready to make an £8m offer to Arsenal to sign Joel Campbell, according to O Jogo.

The player was last week linked with a possible move to Milan with the Rossoneri eventually signing Fernando Torres from Chelsea and is rumoured to be ready to move to Portugal.

But, manager Arsene Wenger again insisted the Gunners do not need to sign a new striker despite having main man Olivier Giroud ruled out for four months.

On Friday, the Frenchman added the Costa Rica international to the list of possible players to replace Giroud up front.

"You have decided I have to buy strikers. I’ve not decided," Wenger said in Friday's press conference.

"The squad we have, we have enough to be successful. Why not? Sanogo, Sanchez, Walcott, Podolski, Giroud. Campbell. Of course we can be successful."

With Theo Walcott yet to resume full training and Alexis Sanchez more suited on the wing, Campbell is expected to compete with Yaya Sanogo for the only central attack role available in Wenger's side.
