Coach Rudi Garcia insists Roma should approach games with a different approach after the game against Empoli.
The Giallorossi could only manage a draw against Maurizio Sarri's side as their title hopes suffer a blow.
"We tried something different during the warm-up session but we still failed to start well," Garcia said.
"We decided to move the ball forward more in the first half, especially at the start of the game, but in the end we kept going backwards and this helped Empoli.
"It's also true that having lost Iturbe [due to injury], we lost the only player who at that moment was giving us speed and depth, which is why I say this is a problematic moment for us.
"We already lost [Kevin] Strootman, now Iturbe as well: in terms of injuries this campaign has been a disaster."
Napoli can move to only four points from Roma if they beat Chievo this afternoon but Garcia is not ready - just yet - to worry about losing the second place in the table.
"Our job is to focus on the next game," he said.
"The difference between this season and last year's is that we're facing way too many injury problems.
"I want these problems to end and have all players available."
Asked if his squad lacks depth, the 50-year-old said: "Fortunately there is depth.
"After all we would be in a much worse situation had we not had depth in the squad. But clearly, with all players available it would be easier to play our game."
Roma signed Seydou Doumbia from CSKA Moscow this week and Garcia says the 27-year-old will give speed and goals to his side.
"He's a goal scorer, just check his statistics," the Frenchman explained.
"He's fast, knows how to score goals and I'm sure he will help us a lot. I hope he qualifies for the next round in the African Cup of Nations but for Roma, I prefer if they [Doumbia and Gervinho] return on Monday."
