Coach Rudi Garcia insists Roma can still reach their objectives but admits he didn't like the first half performance in the 0-0 draw away at Palermo.
With Juventus playing later on today, the Giallorossi were gifted a golden opportunity to go top on level points on Saturday afternoon but were immediately punished by Palermo after Davide Astori's early mistake in the game.
Roma improved in the second half and restored parity after Mattia Destro showcased his fox in the box skills but could only manage a draw as they now trail Juventus by two points.
"We knew Palermo were full of confidence and conceding the first the way we did is no good," Garcia said.
"I didn't like the first half, we were static, too many mistakes. In the second half we improved, we had more shots on target but we could have hit the target more.
"I said it after our previous game, we should be more consistent inside the same game, we have to start better."
Striker Mattia Destro continues to be heavily linked with a move away from the club but the Frenchman insists the 23-year-old's future is at Roma.
"I am happy [with his game], he also scored," Garcia explained.
"He is a Roma player. I am also happy for Daniele Verde who was making his debut and for [Leandro] Paredes, who is growing in confidence. We lacked leaders so other players have to take more responsibility. We expected this but the goal gifted to Palermo didn't help."
Asked if he is concerned ahead of the last part of the season, the 50-year-old said: "No, I have faith in my group.
"Maybe they know I will never give up but I expect the lads to take their responsibilities. I shouldn't be the one to motivate the group at half-time because the game starts on the first minute."
