Roma manager Rudi Garcia confirmed the Italian side are monitoring the progress of Adrien Rabiot.
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has been linked with a move away from the French club this summer, with Arsenal and Roma both reportedly interested.
Garcia confirmed the reports adding Roma scouts are keeping a close eye on the youngster.
"Rabiot is a great player and one we are interested in," the manager is quoted as saying by FootMercato.net.
"Our club are closely monitoring a number of good players but there is no secret agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for Rabiot, this information is absurd.
"The transfer market is over and Rabiot is a PSG player, I cannot say anything else.'
Reports suggested the 19-year-old is unsettled with the reigning French champions, reason why he was left out of the Champions League squad.
But Garcia believes managers are expected to take difficult decisions when numbers are limited.
"Why the player was left out of the PSG squad for the Champions League? Well I had to take similar decisions as well, PSG can only register 21 players so I believe this is why they took the decision.
"No manager can guarantee regular first-team action to all players, it's up to them to work hard and do well when they are involved."
