Napoli coach Rafa Benitez believes his side deserved to take something away from the Stadio Olimpico after today's defeat against Roma.
The Partenopei desperately needed all three points to keep their top three finish hopes alive but defeat against Rudi Garcia's men means they will be probably forced to win the Europa League if they are to qualify for next season's Champions League.
"After such a good performance it's amazing how we have nothing to show for it," Benitez said.
"We would have been disappointed with a draw as well today.
"It's a shame, our approach to the game was correct, we kept Roma under control and all the chances we created show that the difference [between us and the second placed team in the table] is nonexistent.
"They gained confidence after taking the lead but we bounced back, we created a number of goal-scoring opportunities with [Jose] Callejon and [Jonathan] De Guzman and in the second half we went close 5-6 times.
"I repeat, this is an incredible result for the fact that we didn't score any goals. Had we found the equaliser I'm sure we could have won the game but we lacked precision and maturity.
"We now have the Italian Cup and then we take it one game at a time. This season can still be good or excellent, it depends on how we perform in the Italian Cup and the Europa League."
